I made several sculptural vases while working under the guidance of master glass maker Nelius Britz at his Long Street studio (Edge Glass).
The first, in translucent yellow, is called ‘Karoo’ and has 9 sheep heads (SOLD). The second, in thick clear glass, has a delicate, hand carved outer texture (SOLD).
The largest, and my personal favorite, in rich turquoise and blue, is organically molded from the surfaces of many old Victorian bottles. Named ‘Essence Of’ it preserves the raised-lettered labels which refer to long-gone contents – medicines, poisons, and food - the 'essences' through which our bodies relate to the world (OWNED BY THE ARTIST).
